This topic is focused on En Passant, which is a special pawn move. I am going to be teaching this to the Beginners group at the UES Chess Club later today so I have to get it completed beforehand.

This is an example of En Passant. 1. E4 was played by White, with Black responding with 1... E6. White decides to push the pawn to 2. E5, and Black retaliates with 2... D5. That qualifies for the En Passant for White. Unfortunately, if they don't do it that next turn, they can no longer do it.

In this, White plays 3. NF3 instead of 3. exd6, which would be the notation for it. Now White cannot do En Passant.

You have to have a pawn on row 4/5 (Row 5 if White and row 4 if Black) in order to do it. The opponent must move their pawn to the direct side of that pawn to do En Passant.

In this position, Black moves to E5. Can White do En Passant?
