It's about to get wild in here! Hawks and elephants are invading the chessboard for the next installment of the Chess.com Community Championship. The Chess.com Seirawan Chess Championship happens on November 7 and 8 and features a $2,000 prize fund.

Seirawan Chess is a chess variant created by legendary GM Yasser Seirawan, who introduced two new pieces to the game. The hawk combines the power of the bishop and the knight, while the mighty elephant combines the rook and the knight. Here's a rather old but entertaining video of the man himself, Seirawan, talking about his variant:

The Chess.com Seirawan Chess Championship starts with eight qualifiers, all taking place on November 7. Each qualifier is a 75-minute arena in the 3+2 time control.

You must first join the official Chess.com Community Club to play in the qualifiers. Click the image below to see the full qualifier schedule, and click the Join button to enter them. Note that registrations open one hour before each arena starts.

As always, we may require participants to join a video call for fair play checks to ensure a safe playing environment. Players who join the fair-play call must set up two cameras from different angles in the room. Declining to comply will result in a player's removal from the event.

The winner of each qualifier then moves on to the Final, an eight-player double-elimination knockout bracket. From there, only one player with a hawk's eye for tactics and an elephant's memory for unorthodox opening theory can emerge victorious.

Members who don't make it to the Final can still tune in to our Community Twitch channel to enjoy the action with our live broadcast hosted by AnittaDrink.

Do you have what it takes to join other Chess.com Community Championship winners FM Luis Chan,  IM Nhat Minh To, GMs Andrew Tang, Vladimir Fedoseev, Luca Moroni, Awonder Liang, and Jeffery Xiong? Then join the Chess.com Seirawan Chess Championship qualifiers on November 7!

Are you excited for the Chess.com the next installment of the Chess.com Community Championships? What other variants would you like to play in this championship series? Let us know in the comments below!
