I learnt to play chess in 1972 when the great Fischer VS Spassky match was in the news,  That year a handful of us also formed a chess club at school.  The following year I started high school and played for Grosvenor Boy's High School, Durban for 5 years.  I played my next club match at the age of about 50 when I joined a local club.  I played for several of the teams as well as for the County of Kent, UK for a few seasons, but now only play online.  I seldom analyse my games and that is most probably the reason why my grades aren't higher.  I have always played for the pure enjoyment of the game and will fight to the bitter end before resigning.
